I am looking for any information on this William
who was born in Abbeville, S.C. He had
at least one son, Francis Brison Austin around
1850 also in Abbeville. This was my great
grandfather. He enlisted in the Civil
War in S.C. and later lived in Moore County,
N.C. where he married Flora Anne Hunsucker
in 1880 and worked as a contractor in Raleigh. They
attended Second Baptist Church in Raleigh. They
later moved to Wilson and Wilmington, N.C.
and then to Savannah, Ga., where he died. Children
included Kathryn Elizabeth "Katie", Clyde,
Jesse, William Palmer, Frederick Raleigh, Georgia
Virginia, Eunice Anne "Daisy", Francis Brison,
Jr., and one who died in infancy. I am
at a loss as to where to look next.
I have corresponded with
the S.C. Archives, but have found nothing
that tells me which of the many Williams
is mine. I have also found the name
Janie Pierce written by his name with other
family members, but have found little on
her. I wonder if she was William's
mother, sister, wife, or daughter. Thanks
for any help or suggestions anyone can provide. (Oct
