Morris Maurice Austin was born about 1744 and died 1776 in Skenesborough, Washington Co., New York. He married Elizabeth Moffett and had sons William and James.
A land petition, executed by William Austin of the township of Yonge in the District of Johnstown, Upper Canada identifies William's father as Maurice (Morris) Austin of Skenesborough, New York. In 1773, Morris Austin and John Austin signed a petition to establish Skenesborough as a county town from Charlotte County. Later records indicate that son William lost his inherited lands because of his Loyalist standing after the American Revolution.
