Miles Austin of Virginia

Miles Austin was born about 1794 in York Co., Virginia and died between 1870 and 1880 in Franklin Co., Virginia. He married first Nancy Sledd on 25 Dec 1821 in Campbell Co, Virginia and had 7 children. Nancy was born about 1800 and died before 1860. Miles married second Lucinda Allen Shelton on 15 Apr 1858 in Wytheville, Wythe Co., Virginia. Lucinda was born about 1818 in Rockingham Co., North Carolina. There are no known children of Miles' second marriage.

Not much is known about either John Austin or his wife Nancy. Their existance is based on marriage records and claims made in a widow's pension application for a John Robert Austin, presumeably their son.

This database presents both Austin lines of Elba "Eb" Branscomb Austin, husband of Ruth Marshall Austin who did the research. Elba's father's ancestral line ends at Miles Austin. His mother's ancestral line ends at John Austin. Both progenitors are detailed here. Try as they might, neither Ruth Marshall Austin or AFAOA genealogist Liz Austin Carlin have been able to connect John and Miles to a common ancestor (yet).
