Leila Moffatt attributes her longevity to attitude. And faith. "Basically I'm not a worrier ... It's my faith that keeps me from worry ... I know God will take care of me," she says.
Ms. Moffatt, of United Empire Loyalist stock, was born Leila Austin on March 27, 1909 in the Nipissing area. "In bush country," as she terms it.
She marked her 100th birthday Friday with lots of friends at her Woodland Towers home. A celebration was also planned for today.
Ms. Moffatt's father was a carpenter who worked summers building large barns. He was a lumber camp cook in the winters. When her father died she was only about three. Her mother moved to Welland, Ont., which is where Leila and her seven younger siblings -- four from her father's previous marriage -- grew up.
She's the only surviving member of the family.......Article ID# 1500745
