Austin -- Stanley Austin, 32, was killed in a train wreck last Saturday at Franz, in the Algoma District -- see his obituary KILLED IN WRECK Stanley Austin Met Death in Railway Accident
Stanley Austin, aged 32 years, son of Mr. R. W. Austin, Brock street, met an untimely death Saturday night in a railway accident at the town of Franz, in the Algoma district. Mr. Austin is a driver, but on this occasion was acting as fireman on an Algoma Central train, and while shunting on the main line at Franz, about seven o'clock Saturday night, a car standing on a siding broke loose and coasted into the main track, striking the engine on which Mr. Austin was firing. The engine was not derailed, but was badly damaged, and both the engineer and fireman injured. Mr. Austin received internal injuries, which caused his death at 11:30 o'clock Saturday night. Engineer Nelson Fulcher was badly scalded, and received several severe cuts and bruises.
The deceased Mr. Austin leaves a wife and two children at Sault Ste. Marie. The body arrived in Simcoe Wednesday night, and the funeral is taking place this morning to Oakwood Cemetery, under Masonic auspices. http://www.nornet.on.ca/~jcardiff/index1.html
