Meet the Compiler of the Larkin K. Austin Database

Eual J. Austin

One need not do a great deal of research to believe that anyone reviewing these genealogy records would in one way or another be associated with the family surname of Austin.  If so, then it is suggested that the longest lasting and most beneficial results of your present effort may well be gaining knowledge of The Austin Families Association of America.  This non profit companionship of proven longevity has on uncounted occasions provided its members the ability to successfully accomplish a goal usually laden with missteps and discouraging failure:  research of  family history and ancestry.  In the process the discovery of common and near common roots allow all members to believe and feel that all other members may correctly and pleasantly be referred to as "cousin."  The annual meeting always at a site selected for its ability to provide genealogy research and economically reasonable accommodations also provides each member with a reason to enjoy a yearly vacation with a personal reward. The camaraderie between family members of a common goal has again and again allowed friendships to evolve that are to endure for a lifetime.  Membership is not restricted.

My interest in family genealogy is a wintertime effort of the retirement years.  As the oldest son in a daughter-rich family, the passage of time made me the custodian of a considerable amount of family memorabilia with unlikely usefulness.  After a long period of dust filled slumber, the appearance of personal computers allied with the idle hours of retirement, allowed me to introduce family records to the PAF program of The Church of Jesus Christ of the Latter-day Saints.  Along the way a family here and a name there has increased the data base of Larkin K. to the astonishing number of 1,200 + names.  It must be acknowledged at this point that my personal feeling relate very well to the country turtle that found himself setting on a fence post:  "I sure needed a lot of help to get this far."  Family members too numerous to list have provided input and cross checked the records until the database is reliable and the earlier records probably as correct as they will ever be.  A silent thank you:  Mabel Beatice Austin Lawson Blackard.

Inquiries, questions and comments are welcome and encouraged.  All will receive a courteous reply and hopefully a helpful answer.  There is also added at a very quite demurrer when addressing prompt:  we own a motor home; we like to travel.
