This Austin database collects the families of three siblings: James Austin, who married Sarah Walker and had 6 children; Thomas Austin who married first Martha and had 1 child, then after Martha's presumed death, Thomas married Charity Kendrick and had 3 children; and finally John Austin who married his brother's wife Charity Kendrick following his brother's death. John and Charity went on to have 9 children.
The database was previously a part of the AFAOA's Southern Unplaced database, and was based mainly on the research of Jeane Austin King Galau who published The Austin Family - Montgomery Co., MD and Ohio Co., KY in 1978, as well as an article entitled The Descendants of John and Charity Kendrick Austin of Frederick Co., MD in the Austins of America quarterly, Feb 1982, starting on page 34. The research of Willia Schroader, Francine Conn Hatter and AFAOA Genealogist Liz Austin Carlin has been used to update these two documents. In addition, Liz Austin Carlin has carefully reviewed these records fleshing out some of the material based on census and vital records. Please contact Liz for any additions or corrections.
