Meet the Compiler of the John Austin, Sr. Database
Dorothy Austin Vanover

My interest in genealogy began after I retired as a Trust Administrator for a local bank here in Oklahoma.  I was just going to put the family photos in some kind of order, then I ran across family information that I had acquired over the years.  I decided to make some kind of sense Dorothy Austin Vanoverout of that.  For me, the more I learned about my family the more I wanted to know.

At that time, which was about eight or nine years ago, the best place to research was the local library.  I ordered film from the LDS film library and gathered some information. About this time I suggested to my son that he put the information on his computer and he suggested that I get my own.  He got me set up with one and the rest has been up to me.

I am the mother of four, and have been a widow since 1978 when my husband died.  I am also an artist, working with oils and watercolors, and have exhibited in shows for a number of years.  I also am dabbling with pottery on a hobby basis.

I am looking forward to meeting others researching this large family, and hope that we can continue to fill in the gaps.
