This database begins with Joseph Austin, born about 1616 in England, and who died before 1 July 1663 in Cocheco, New Hampshire. He married Sarah Starbuck about 1649. Joseph appeared in Hampton, New Hampshire in 1642 before removing to Dover about 1647. He appears on the earliest tax record of Dover in 1647, where he was part-owner of a sawmill. A number of his descendants were members of the Society of Friends.
