This AFAOA database was originally created by E. Ray Austin in 1992, and subsequently updated by Jack Roberts in 1996. For some unknown reason, it was never posted on the AFAOA web site, and it was only recently "discovered" by AFAOA Genealogist Liz Austin Carlin when she responded to a query by Karin Kelly of Fort Worth, TX in August of 2008. Discovered at the same time was a book belonging to Janet Austin Curtis in the AFAOA archives: Related Families of Botetourt County, Virginia, by J. William Austin II and Rebecca H. R. Austin (Commonwealth Press, Roanoke, VA 1977). This latest update incorporates the gleanings from the book, and subsequent data from Karin Kelly. Karin has agreed to become the compiler for this database, so please send comments, updates, corrections, etc. to her.
